March 12, Travel Day

Departure day is finally here! Dad picked us up from home at 9:45am for our 11am flight to Minneapolis. 

The 40 min. flight was uneventful and we quickly had the first (very short) leg of our journey completed. 

As is tradition, we stopped by the Delta Sky Club. Appropriately, their featured drink was the "Kiwi Fix"... We couldn't have chosen anything better as our first fancy cocktail of the trip!

After our cocktail and lunch, we were ready for our next flight to LAX. The three and a half hour flight flew by. I watched "The Holdovers" and Kory's movie choice was "The Gentleman". 

Upon LAX arrival, it took about 45 minutes for us (and our bags) to make the trek from Delta terminal 2 to United terminal 7... Worth it because we redeemed miles for all these flights!

We got through security (for the second time today) with no issues, and made our way to the United lounge for another fun cocktail... "The United Polaris Star"... Very tasty! Gin, ginger honey, lemon juice and club soda. 

After killing a few hours in the lounge, we were ready to depart for Auckland. We're settling into our seats as I post this! With the time change and long flight, we arrive at 6:30am Thursday morning. Day 1 has been smooth and a success!!! Catch ya on the other side of the world!
